MORE ABOUT CASITA 111 The Casita was built as individual, vacation rental home. There are four Casitas, side by side. They are located in the second row of Parcel 6, in Las Conchas, Rocky Point. Casita 111 is about 50 ft from the beautiful, sandy beach on the northern Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez). Las Conchas is a 5,000 acre, private, 90% American owned residential development. IS MEXICO SAFE? Abide by the laws of Mexico and you will love it and have a wonderful, completely safe visit. There are no drugs or banditos in Puerto Peñasco, mostly happy, relaxed people. Approx. 20,000 U.S. visitors per month and hundreds of RVs. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO PUERTO PEÑASCO (ROCKY POINT)? Around 4 to 5 hours from Phoenix and less from Tucson. CROSSING THE BORDER, WHAT PAPERS DO I NEED? Puerto Peñasco is a free zone and therefore no papers are currently required. I recommend a passport or other I.D. No car papers are required, but take registration just in case.
NEW INFORMATION
Effective
Jan 1 2008 Passports will be required for all
passage to Mexico (Land, Air Water). Effective Jan 1 2007
Passports are only required for all Air & Water Passage.
DO I NEED MEXICAN INSURANCE? We recommend Mexican Insurance. If for no other reason, the policy is written in Spanish. You can buy it in Ajo, Why, at the border , etc.. Please contact Kathy Boyd @ (800) 528-1621 or www.oldmex.net to purchase Mexican Auto Insurance prior to leaving. The new Mexican rules about going into Mexico do not apply to Rocky Point, due to the free zone rules. The rules are much different for going to Guymas or further re: proof of auto ownership and a bond, etc. Currently, You do NOT need to post a bond or deposit cash at the border to bring your vehicle to Puerto Peñasco. The recent restrictions DO NOT apply to Rocky Point DRINKING WATER ? The Casita has 5 gallons of purified Mexican water. You may take your own if you prefer. WHAT CAN I TAKE INTO MEXICO? Almost anything, Mexican officials are normally quite relaxed. However absolutely NO FIREARMS are permitted. Even one small cartridge can bring disastrous consequences. WHAT CAN I BRING BACK INTO U.S.? Rules change, best to ask at customs before you go into Mexico. Liquor limit is 1 liter per adult per month. No fireworks are allowed in U.S.
